Basic Structure of the Rig

• Tackle: A high‑rigidity large spinning reel (8000–14000 size) is standard. A dedicated shore‑jigging rod in H (Heavy) to HH (Extra Heavy) class is essential for handling jigs over 100g.
• Line System:
  Main Line — Spool about 300m of PE line in 4–6号 (or even 8号 depending on the target).
  Leader — Connect thick fluorocarbon or nylon (80–150lb) for abrasion resistance. Nylon leaders are sometimes preferred when using plugs to reduce snagging on rocks.
• Lures: In addition to 80–150g metal jigs, topwater plugs such as diving pencils and poppers are widely used for drawing fish from a distance.
• Safety Gear (Top Priority): A buoyant life jacket, spiked rock shoes, gloves, and a helmet are essential for survival when fishing on rocky shores.

Fishing Procedure

1. Spot Selection & Reading the Current: Productive spots include areas with strong water flow or the up‑current side where waves hit the rocks. Feel the vibration of the line to read the movement of the bottom current and locate active fish.
2. Casting & Range Strategy:
   High‑activity periods (e.g., dawn) — Start with topwater plugs to draw fish to the surface.
   Daytime or deep‑water fishing — Switch to metal jigs if there’s no response, ensuring you take bottom contact before starting your action.
3. Action (Luring):
   Jigs — Use one‑pitch jerks as the base, mixing in aggressive movements and falls.
   Plugs — Make them dive with rod work or splash on the surface to attract fish.
4. Bite & Strong Hook‑set: When a fish hits, set the hook powerfully and instantly. Large fish often charge toward the rocks the moment they’re hooked, so the first move is critical.
5. Fight: Use rod power to forcefully pull the fish away from rocks and underwater structure to prevent line breakage.
6. Landing: Because footing is unstable, carefully time your landing with the waves and use a gaff or landing net to bring the fish in safely.
