Basic Structure of the Rig

• Components: This rig is built using an offset hook, a split ring, and a dedicated down‑shot sinker (ringed sinker).
• Connection Method: Attach a split ring to the eye of the offset hook, then connect the sinker directly to the split ring.
• Characteristics: Because the hook and sinker are positioned very close together, the rig stays compact and transmits underwater movements directly to your hand. The use of an offset hook also makes it highly snag‑resistant.

Fishing Procedure

1. Casting and Fast Fall: Due to its structure, the sinker leads and sinks straight down at high speed. This allows you to deliver the lure quickly into the target spot.
2. Bottom Contact & “Fall Bite”: Many bites occur during the fall or immediately after the sinker hits bottom. The rig offers excellent sensitivity, making it easy to read bottom hardness and structure.
3. Approaching Structure:
   Hole Shooting — Ideal for sliding the rig into gaps around seawall foundations or tetrapod crevices.
   Weed Fishing — Its high snag‑resistance makes it effective for probing dense seaweed areas to target species like kelp greenling hiding inside.
4. Action: Small bottom hops (“bottom bumps”) or staying in one spot with minimal movement are effective ways to entice fish.
5. Hook‑set: Because the rig transmits bites very directly, set the hook immediately and powerfully when you sense anything unusual, then pull the fish away from the structure in one motion.
